Around the world, approximately 250 million people suffer from poor vision simply because they do not have access to or cannot afford care. Poor vision impedes a child’s ability to learn in school and robs an adult of independence, mobility and quality of life. OPSM and Dymocks Childrens Charities are working with OneSight to collect 50,000 pairs of glasses for people in need. (To find out more about each of these organisations click on their name)

Coordinator Sathya Kumaralingam with Year 8 students Scott Worthington, Trae Chama and Gagan Jalandhra
ESL Teacher, Sathya Kumaralingam held a month long appeal for Homebush students to bring in used spectacles so that they could be sent to assist those in need. The appeal was extremely successful and as a result over eighty children and young adults will be able to look at the world in a new way. Ms. Kumaralingam stated that this was a huge effort from the school community and reminded us not to throw away those old sunglasses or spectacles but to keep them and donate them in the 2010 appeal.
