The Study Skills season is well underway, with one of the highlights being the Year 12 workshops. A group of 2008 HSC students came back to school to lead groups of current students, taking them through their recent study experiences the highs, the lows, and their perspectives on how to best prepare for the challenges of the final year of schooling.
Year 12 2008 with Study Skills Coordinator Caitlin Dwyer and Principal Dr. Ian Paterson following their Study Skill Sessions Topics discussed included the importance of setting goals and being organised; how to stay motivated; and balancing sport, hobbies and study. A clear theme was the real significance of working consistently throughout the HSC year school assessments are very important! Some of the most motivational comments related to what to do when you get a disappointing mark for an assessment rather than focussing on the mark itself, finding out how to improve it was the key!
We were very fortunate to have such a diverse and inspirational group of leaders - some very academic, some musical, some sporty, all with valuable insights into the demands of the HSC. Our current Year 12 students have benefited from hearing such a wide range of perspectives.
